Hand Scraping
Hand scraping is used to add definition to the edges by rounding them over and scraping the face of the boards with a rolling wave.
Hand scraping the edges of the boards is a great way to give the appearance of a well worn floor. From a mild scraping, creating the effect of a hand crafted floor, to a heavy scrape, creating the effect of an old floor with edges foot worn from hundreds of years of use, we can find the right look for you.
Hand Scraping of the face of the board or Pillowing adds even more character to flooring. The face of each board is worked to create shallow grooves then lightly sanded and finished to give the appearance of a smooth time worn look.
Distressing is another method we can use to recreate a well worn floor. We can use many techniques to create the appearance: hammer marks, worm holes, knife marks, scratches, chatter, etc. All our distressing is done by hand so that we can create a custom look just for you.
