#2 Common
Strip flooring is the most common category of flooring. Almost any species of wood can be produced as a strip floor. This material is milled to exact specifications in the most common widths of 2 ¼” and 3 ¼”. The boards are tongue and grooved, and usually between 1’ to 8’ lengths, with an average length of 4 feet. This type of material is very cost effective and can be installed quickly and finished easily. While a single width is most common for a strip floor, a mix of widths can be very pleasing to the eye. Strip flooring is graded by the variety of color and knots in the wood. This does not reflect the quality of the flooring, only the appearance. All grades of our strip flooring are milled from quality materials to provide a sturdy, beautiful floor for your home or office. A #2 Common grade floor has more color variety between boards and will have small, tight knots and wormholes throughout the floor. The grain of the wood of a #2 floor is usually more apparent and colorful and gives the floor more character. All knots can be filled with a wood putty to give a nice smooth appearance.
