Eastern White Pine
Eastern White Pine is a large Pine tree native to eastern North America. Wide spread availability and being easy to mill has made this particular Pine a staple of American construction since well before the Civil War. Freshly cut white pine is creamy white or a pale straw color but pine wood which has aged many years tends to darken to a deep rich tan. Occasionally one can find light brown pine boards with unusual yellowish-golden or reddish brown hues. This warm coloring combines with the the unique grain patterns and Knots to create a wonderfully rustic environment.
This particular floor is a wide plank (12" wide) material with a light Brown stain. Notice how the stain enhances the soft grains around the hard knots. Back to Varieties |
