Walnut
If you are looking for a dark, elegant floor, Walnut is a perfect choice. With beautiful long grains, burly patterns and a rich, distinctive brown color, it is an amazing choice for a formal dining room, den, rustic vacation home or anything in between. The Walnut can be steamed to blend the colors more uniformly, or left unsteamed to allow the purples, reds and blondes to show through. Walnut flooring tends to deepen in color as it ages, creating the rich coloring and elegance for which it is so well known. As with most flooring, the this very durable wood can come in two grades: Select and Rustic (or sometimes refered to as Country-grade). The unique qualities of Walnut allow it to be used in a formal setting or just as easily in a rustic environment. Hand scraping the edges of the boards and/or nailing the face of the boards with Antique nails can further enhance the rustic appearance.
