Ward Hardwood offers a
large selection wide plank flooring in almost any size. We have access
to mills all across the country and do our best to find the lowest prices and
the highest quality in wood. Wide plank flooring can come in many types
and sizes. Flooring is considered planking when it's width exceeds 4 inches.
Planking is commonly milled in widths from 4" - 11" and usually comes in
long lengths greater the 5 feet. Flooring wider than 8 inches does not usually come
with Tongue and Groove.

Although Wide Plank Flooring can be
milled for any type of specifications, in Colorado it is commonly
used to create a pleasantly rustic appearance. With large knots, multi-colored boards
and long lengths, a
wide plank floor can create a warm, mountain home feeling. Ward Hardwood
can also provide custom hand-scraping
and many other forms of distressing to simulate a time worn, hand-crafted floor . The look can be further enhanced by
using a reclaimed wood.
Reclaimed materials are recovered from old
barns, warehouses, ships and buildings and then re-milled into flooring. (We can
also provide wood for beams and other lumber projects!)
Reclaimed woods are truly unique in appearance and character. Much of this type
of wood has been rescued from buildings built around the turn of the century. Re-using this
old lumber is a great way to keep this American history alive as a part of your
home. These recycled woods are most commonly Red/White Oaks, Chestnut, Fir and Pines, but many other
woods can be found, such as Mahogany, Poplar, Beech, Spruce Hickory Ash and Walnut. The unique coloring, wormholes, nail
holes, mineral markings and miscellaneous distressing combine to create a unique
weathered character to the floor that only time could provide. In many cases, we
can find out the history behind the lumber used for your flooring!
